The owner is a blacksmith, thus there is more metalwork on show here than you’d expect for a small pub. A modern, metal-heavy bar occupies most of the room leaving little space for seating, but a side room to the right of the entrance provides some additional seating. Rows of tables on the terrace overlooking the river. Modern and clean style but with some wooden furnishings and in a characterful historic building with some unusual spacing.

Description:
The work of a blacksmith and sculptor, owner Matouš Holý also sports a beard, referenced in the pubs title “The Bearded Pint”.

Taking over from a defunct operation in a prime location, the riverside setting proves an irresistible draw for people who want to enjoy a pristine pint of Pilsner Urquell with a pleasant view. That does take the focus of the pub.

A large bar, styled with distinctive modern metalwork occupies so much space in the main room there is barely room for a stamgast table, and you’ll be lucky to fit 8 people in there. But for a few leaning posts in the entrance, the second room to the right comprises the rest of the indoor seating. High demand and small space means you may be disappointed if you’re hoping to turn up without a reservation, but the best days to try, ironically, are the busiest, because most will be outside rather than inside.

A casual and disarmingly friendly approach from staff (we all remember what Czech service can be like) is a really distinguishing feature, making a first time visitor feel part of their scene. It is worth emphasising the beer here is served in super condition, which also helps. Formerly popular with visitors to the nearby theatre for a pre-post theatre drink, the swell of demand has meant that you could easily imagine copy and pasting the same pub along the riverside 4 times and filling all 4 easily.
