❤️❤️❤️
A venue on a corner. High ceilings, dark brown wood, modern but with a traditional touch. A bright bar area, tall tropical plants by the windows and interest geometric patterned floor (mind the steps in the toilet). Some heritage artwork from the pub in its former life.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nicely social and local, popular with post-grads and thirty somethings giving it a lively, but mature atmosphere for social catch-ups.

❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, takeaway, limited outdoor seating.
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
Ok. Not unusual for central Brno.
Description:
A venue tucked around the back of the cathedral that has seen many pub and restaurant operations in its former lives. The owners of Pivo & Syn have chosen this spot to continue Brno’s almost obsessive project trying to reboot the Czech hospoda.
U Blahovky has become such an iconic spot that there is no shortage of attempts to bottle that magic and create it elsewhere. U Kuby offers a lot of the same aspects – a social focus with a stripped down menu, a few hot dishes, food to enjoy with beer, and a streamlined selection of beers from Kamenice and Prazdroj.
The corner space with its high windows lets a lot of light in, while decoration has a retro patina in its art work and choice of tall tropical plants add to that too. Service is pleasant and the drinks are poured immaculately, although sometimes a little short measured.
Being around the back of the cathedral, what tourism Brno gets is unlikely to walk past this place naturally, meaning this is a spot for residents of Brno, both Czech and foreign.
As of 2025 this place represents a touchstone for the direction Brno pubs have been heading in – and a superior example of it.
