Set on the corner of a curved building. High ceilings. As you enter the pizza oven and kitchen hatch is to your right, and rows of tables spread around a long bar. Old business hoardings and signage, hints of Rijeka’s glory days.

Overall, fairly good value for money given the location and purpose of the place.

Description:
What started off as a convenient place serving vegan food to take my partner quickly transformed into an assessment that…this is actually a pub. Generally speaking, a Pivnica in Croatia would be a smokey drinking den, but what you’ll find here is a hotel type space that has been decorated in such a way as to look and feel like a pub restaurant

It’s a genuine all-rounder with a big menu and the odd decent beer (don’t knock Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier after a week in Croatia drinking Pan) on draft too, with happy hour options and a versatility that means you could just as easily turn up for breakfast as for an evening drink with friends, without becoming overly bland.

The decoration helps, with old business hoardings and signage, hints of Rijeka’s glory days (or the nearest thing to them) which add significantly to a pubby feel.

With an on-site pizza oven they also have fresh bread available pretty much whenever you want it.

While it doesn’t have great reviews, it’s clear that depends on timings, perhaps it doesn’t do as well in summer with increased demand, perhaps the food isn’t exactly fine dining, but we’ve been to plenty of venues like this and in our view it’s worth dropping in.
