Description
If you read the glowing praise about the place you’d be forgiven for thinking this was some unique Sherlock Holmes style nudge-and-wink secret smoker’s hideout, rather than simply another bar. Well, I’ll start in reality TV style by shattering your illusions and then build a new impression from scratch.

The pipe stuff was so low key as to be virtually non-existent. I didn’t mind that so much but was rather surprised. The description of the décor may have previously applied, but again didn’t fit my expectation.

There are a number of different rooms, as this place is set in a first floor apartment in Placa Reial. It’s an atmospheric venue as it clearly used to be a rather grand apartment. Enormous ceilings and grand doorways, while the bar makes use of its prime location with some extraordinarily good views over the square. You can dip in and out of the various features, which are, in turn, quite interesting.

There’s a fairly trad modern bar area just in front of the entrance that serves upscale cocktails and a couple of dull beers on tap, San Miguel Selecta being the best. This seems to have been renovated as the images online suggest a working man’s club type bar area was previously there. There’s a room showing some vintage cinema, and another room with a pool table of all things.

Definitely pay a visit and see if you can get more from it. Even if you don’t there’s a very pleasant stylish apartment bar with good cocktails and great views.
