Basement pub, compact with uncomplicated wooden furnishings, perhaps lacking a little something to really grab it and make it stand out. The brewkit is on show, however.

Local life among a range of ages which is always nice in Poland which can be age-segregated in many bars. A pubby environment with a focus on socialising above eating, which is another big plus.

Drinks prices are fine, food a little pricey given what’s on offer.

Description:
A somewhat old-school basement brewpub with a small kit, it’s a classic approach and one you’ll be familiar with if you’ve done a lot of travelling in central Europe.

The pub is a popular and well-thought of option that’s a simple walk from Chorzów main stration. Katowice conurbation is one that rewards treating it as one big city with districts to hop-off and on from. If you don’t, Chorzów, Bytom, etc may feel quite small fry.

The street is a really beautiful turn of the centre affair making the basement location, the classical furnishings all seem in keeping.

The beers focus on lagers with the occasional ale attempted. None go wild with the approach, but instead they do meet a good standard. Given what a lot of pre-craft explosion homebrew can be like in Poland, this one passes the mark.

There are locals and a stamgast table near the bar, and the rest of the pub fills up fairly quickly.

It’s also a hangout, so while there is a food menu, it is not obligatory here.

As you work your way through the cities of this conurbation Reden is a reliable choice you’ll return to.

Even if it doesn’t quite have the bells and whistles that would elevate if further, it would be churlish to leave it off a recommendation. (Added October 2025)
