A small pub facing the street. Inside, one room with a large table and stools around it. Punk/alternative décor, unusual for a wine bar including even a darts board.

Friendly but unusual format. Intimate shared space around a communal table, lack of pretence or exclusivety.

❤️❤️❤️
Darts, snacks/antipasti, records.

Good value considering the food offered with the wines.

Description:
Ask most Northern Europeans their view on wine bars and they’ll tend towards seeing them as social climbing venues for the middle classes. Bland, pleasant going on sterile, a beige canvas over which wine can be enjoyed in a convivial but not particularly interesting space.

Along France comes to turn the tables on this idea. From the likes of Le Volcan in Toulouse to this place, the consumption of wine in no way should be railroaded down a particular track or for a particular people.

Le monde d’apres, The World After is a tiny one-man operation selling a limited choice of natural wines based on the owners fancy. It is a passion project and he is knowledgeable about what he sells.

The interior is a truly punky, alternative personalised and down-to-earth affair set around one large table. A small, but welcome plate of food is provided with the wine, which itself is reasonably priced.

A casual hangout with a social set up and even a dart board, there is no escaping the fact this bar is unashamedly about wine and unashamedly not about airs and graces or pretensions. There are not many bars that offer this crossover.
