Description:
Triana is the district of Flamenco, bullfighters and tile factories. As you cross the Puente de Triana into the district there is more of a shift in atmosphere than you’ll find crossing into any other city district. The ceramics are indeed outstanding and plastered everywhere. Explore slowly and soak in the sights. Las Golondrinas, the swallows is named after the opening lines of a famous poem. Don’t confuse this venue with the different Pagés del Corro restaurant around the corner!

The exterior is lit with flamboyant neon script signage. Inside, tiles play a huge part, probably the showpiece of the venue itself, from floor, to walls to bar, it’s an absolute beauty. Downstairs is for casual tapas, upstairs for dining. Loiter at the bar with the drink of your choice and enjoy the tapas selection that emerges fresh and quick from a small kitchen. It’s a compact, but well chosen selection. While Seville knows tourists, especially around the Giralda and Alcazar, Triana retains a balance and this is also a bar you will find Spanish people and Sevillanos visiting as part of their evening ritual, dipping in to tapas bars before settling somewhere for dinner. As with many of these, there are two sessions, lunch and dinner with a siesta in between, so don’t just turn up on the off-chance.
