| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pekets, a Walloon take on Jenever, available in 30+ varieties. A backbar of typical alternatives. |

| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lively, upbeat and somewhere to go in the middle/towards the end of an evening out. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, outdoor seating, taster trays |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Typical for the city centre. |
| Description | It isn’t often you encounter a brand new drink, but in Wallonia, they have their own take on Jenever, Pekets, something which must have slipped towards the more obscure corner of the liqueur library. Unlike Dutch Jenever, Pekets are mixed a little differently, resulting in a slightly longer drink. Like Jenever, this can be adulterated to virtually any flavour under the sun. But what about the venue? Set in a characterful old townhouse, the pubby bar area is very much set up for drinking and socialising with an increasingly young vibe as the night progresses. The interior is kept reasonably in keeping with the natural environment of the building with exposed brickwork and suitable signage, which leans on its history somewhat, without ever becoming staid. Are there times where this may become a little bit too towny? Probably, but this is the nature of the beast. Lastly, do not be confused by the restaurant Amon Nanesse that shares the building and is in effect the same operation. (Added June 2024) |
