| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Availability can vary but at its best a good range of cocktails and decent beer selection for a French tavern. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Tasteful entirely coherent middle ages theme which blends well with the building and its natural charm. A step up from a corner into a wood beamed ground floor bar with raised area to the rear. Below a live performance space in the basement. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A fixture on Metz’s cultural schedule, both for its basement parties and summer lounging, but a versatility means that you can just as easily find young friends and middle aged couples in the same space. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Live music/events, snacks, outdoor seating |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️ Typical city centre prices |
| Description | One of Metz’s most distinctive bars, La Jehanne, named in honour of the square’s dedication blends a historic building and interior with an appropriately Medieval theme. This is tasteful however – don’t think some tacky US-style Medieval Times – it just gives the bar a distinctive identity. With a high ceiling, step up to the entrance, and a raised area to the bar, the ground floor feels more spacious than it is despite a busy interior. Warm ambience from natural materials and tasteful lighting make it a place you want to hang out in. Underground there’s a basement venue used for parties etc, and in spring and summer La Jehanne has possibly the best leafy courtyard for drinking in all of Metz. Drinks are variable but when they’re all available expect a decent blend of cocktails and beers. An essential stop. (Added February 2025) |
