Choice/ Quality of Drinks	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Breton twists to everything from beers and ciders to hot drinks, a deliberate distinction to be found.
Style/ Décor	❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Over 3,000 dolls inherited through the family stuff the shelves, ceilings and nooks of this otherwise upright venue situated in a typical tall stone St Malo building. Carnival decor with retrieved ephemera and collectors items, you cannot take your eyes off it. Chain swing seats at the bar is another quirky addition as is a mechanical accordion.
Atmosphere/ Character	❤️❤️❤️❤️ Café atmosphere during the day can devolve to revelry in the evenings, with everyone present conscious they are in a special place. However, a reasonably early closure means its potential is never quite realised.

Description	Since 1820 the bar otherwise known as the comically lengthy “Le Café du Coin d’en Bas de la Rue du Bout de la Ville d’en Face du Port – La Java” has been operating in the centre of St Malo. A veritable institution, this place exudes charm and character, a reminder of the great lengths and labours of love that make great bars. 3000+ dolls line the walls alongside jaunty carnival ephemera, added to by a mechanical accordion, chain swing seats and a confession box acting as the door to the toilets. The man of the house is a notorious ‘character’ who will not stand for rude photographers or disrespect, but will be no trouble to any civil or polite customers. The wares have plenty of Breton flair too with local beers and twists to popular cold and hot drinks referencing the local agriculture and celtic customs. Truly above the norm, and a must visit when in Brittany.
