Description:
In France and Switzerland, rock pubs are actually some of the more likely places to find specialist beer. This is notable given this absolutely isn’t the case in many other European countries. Even so, it’s not a hard and fast rule, just something you pick up on the more you travel around.

La Citadelle is a casual hangout which will smash any preconceptions you have about Geneva being prim-and-proper, reserved, formal, or any of that. This bar could be plonked in St Pauli or Kraków or Prague and pass as legit.

With a superior beer range of French and Swiss craft, aided by the odd Belgian option, there’s always reason to drop by here.

The space is a little awkward, a narrow bar area facing at you enter, with a drop down to a lounge seating area on your right, which feels a little detached, leaving you choosing between a quite localsy bar area or being removed from the action. This is compensated for by a good tempo and energy to the place.

It’s very informal and knockabout with cards and board games, a record store and merchandise to explore, and any rockers into specialist beers are sure to put this at the top of their list.
