Description:
Based only a short walk from Cádiz train station, La Cepa Gallega is more or less on the gateway into old town Cádiz and therefore not only a fun and enjoyable little bar but a damn convenient one too.

Buildings around this part of Cádiz were often trading posts for goods imported from the New World, and there’s a genuine sense of frontier to your first 15-20 minutes after arrival in the city.

Set up in 1920, this bar evolved from such a place into a grocery store (Ultramarino) then a little wine bar.

As you enter, you’ll be struck not only by the wall of wines but the tiny size of the place. Once you’re in it feels like you could pretty much reach out and touch everything in the bar. Inside exposed beams, cabinets, shelves full of sherry and wine bottles and photographs of the proprietor, bar heritage and that of the city. Upturned barrels and stools with a small terrace out front is all you get!

Service is willing and direct, and reviews of the place are very strong, mirroring my experience.
