In a city centre with several high profile historic institutions, La Casapuerta is an example of what makes such places institutions.

Great hospitality and a personal touch at this independent run little bar that may lack some of the patrician tapas bar elements but more than makes up for it with the general sense of friendliness and ease.

A compact selection of options covering bases comes accompanied by tapas that can be quickly prepared – toast, cold cuts, cheeses etc, but food doesn’t take focus here, instead sitting in the background to the social scene, second fiddle as it were.

Cádiz residents are keen to support independent businesses of this sort in comparison to corporate ‘groups’ and chains that are encroaching. If you spend your money here you’ll be spending it wisely.
