| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 8+ taps focusing on guest lagers and ales from smaller independent brewers, with some occasional exceptions. Typical back bar with some higher end spirits available too. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Personalised basement venue in a panelaky style concrete precinct. Distinctive inside with a bunker like appears, bar at the far end of the entrance. Two rooms, though it won’t feel like that initially, there is space if you explore. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Natural sense of identity and character from the appearance of the place, added to by an entirely local and less pretentious crowd, this is not a cutting edge chin-strokey place, more a hangout that happens to have excellent beers. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Limited food, snacks, outdoor seating, TV |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Ok value but not notably cheap for the region. |
| Description | A cult venue on the fringes of Poruba district in Ostrava’s sprawling conurbation, this place has to fight off plenty of local competition, being one of three pubs in the same building complex alone. Their USP though has always been a beer specialists, with 8+ taps focusing on guest lagers and ales from smaller independent brewers, with some occasional exceptions. Their sister pub in the centre is now arguably as well-known, and unless you catch this place on a busy evening, it is also arguably the better of the two. However, with plenty of reason to explore Poruba, you’ll need a few pubs to visit and this is its best. A basement venue that has become highly personalised, it is bunker-like and entirely local – don’t suddenly expect a bunch of American hipsters to start stinking the place out. This helps keep the place feeling unpretentious, of its area and region, and less generic as a result. (Added November 2024) |
