The Zoiglstube downstairs is simple and modest with mid-brown wood in a square with a 1970s style characterful tiled bar. Upstairs is a big surprise, an enormous barn line structure more like a beer hall/event space with rustic decor which indicates what the place is like on special occasions or in winter.

Value For Money❀️❀️❀️❀️❀️
One of the cheapest pints of beer you will find anywhere in Germany, and one of the rarer kinds took, the unfiltered kellerbier made for the Zoigl taverns. Food also very good for the price. Honest all-round.
DescriptionZoigl is a culture – beer brewed in a communal brewery on rotation, then served in a real family run pub which opens only a few days each month. It’s a fast-dying tradition but maintained in the Oberpfalz region.

Check if it’ll be open before you go.

Kramer is really two pubs in one – a characterful ground floor Stube (room) and a huge barn/rustic event space upstairs. This ensures whether busy or quiet there is some sense of community and camaraderie going on. Local character is clear from the genial hospitality and guests to the simple rhythm and patter of service. As per usual with these places, the value is extraordinarily good too.

Your best best to reach the beautiful village of Falkenberg with its castle, brewery, church and bridge within a stone’s throw of one another, is to dedicate a morning hike from the other Zoigl town Windischeschenbach along the pretty Waldnaab river (using the country inn Blockhutte to break up the journey), then arrange a taxi back from Falkenberg, as public transport is very limited.

The walk is known as the Goldsteig and is a flat, easy to navigate route.
