Choice/
Quality of Drinks
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The standard corporate fare with 1 or 2 local independent offerings on tap, with a decent selection of whiskies and gins behind the bar. By Dublin standards relatively more interesting.
Style/
Décor
⭐⭐⭐⭐
An interesting combination of Victorian splendour and more obviously historic and preserved elements that are creaking around it. Several snugs and a long bar with an upstairs lounge to boot.
Atmosphere/
Character
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Busy city trade, upright, not a backstreet boozer but a Victorian city tavern. A combination of locals and passing visitors – including tourists still keeps a reasonable balance. An approachable, friendly place.
Amenities/
Events
⭐⭐⭐
Additional seating upstairs, occasional live music
Value For Money
⭐⭐
Typically expensive central Dublin prices.
Description
A standout venue in a city centre crammed with bars containing standout features. On the Victorian tourist trail but don’t expect out and out gin palace type splendour. It’s a combination of Victorian styling such as the wood fit bar and more historic feeling nooks and crannies with its two snugs, leaning posts and upstairs lounge. Beers are typical of the area and with a local independent offering. It should be a venue up your sleeve if you are looking for a good pub in the centre.
