Description:
Sometimes around Riga, it can feel like a city strangely quiet of its own inhabitants, as though a swing of a scythe decimated the population. The truth, as we know, is a complex picture. Unlike Kraków, Prague, Budapest, it require visitors to supplement it culturally and provide it with a sense of vitality. The end result is a bar scene that wherever you go is one where you hear Western voices.

However, it is nice to visit places locals go too, and Zebras is one such place. A casual, compact rock bar that has not gone in for the typical modern/distressed industrial chic look of others, and its comfortably in its own worn-in sneakers.

A Rock soundtrack and casual, not too-arch alternative vibe sets it apart.

Despite the compact size you’ll find a dart board and a Novuss table? Novuss? Oh, yes. This table top Latvian game is a distinctive feature of bar life in Riga. It takes a little while to get used to its subtleties but is easy to pick up.

A casual, social, pubby interior is matched with down to earth drinks selection and prices. It’s actually a stone’s throw from Riga station and only a short walk into the old town, making it a nice option to have up your sleeve.

More conveniently still, 2am-4am closures 6 nights a week make it the obvious answer for where to go for a late one, thankfully for tourists too.
