Platan 10 and 11 on tap. Previously not our favourites at all, but we are closer to the source at Protivin, and the owners here know how to pour a beer. Simple stripped back list of alternatives.

Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️
First Republic vibes both from the exterior and the small taproom as you enter. A bench opposite the taps and leaning table gives a classic ‘knajpa’ appearance, while a partition leads to a lounge area.

Very much dependent on trade, but certainly worth trying when it’s busier. Could use a broader clientele.

❤️❤️
Snacks, TV. The absence of adornments is almost a seilling point in this case.

We won’t undersell this part – it has among the cheapest good beers in the entire country.
DescriptionA charmingly unspoilt hospoda, you wonder how this place is still here. Content to turn up, and grind it out week after week, the simplicity of the setup belies the turbulent times we live in, and perhaps that helps the operation feel like everything is ok.

They could use the support of a broader clientele, but let’s focus on the positives. The knajpa style taproom on entry is a glorious throwback, and the beer you’ll be poured, Platan from Protivin is presented pristinely, for a price that competes among the lowest in the entire country. The elderly tapster knows a thing or two about how to pour a beer, let’s just say that.

Through a partition is the lounge which has a relaxed atmosphere during the day, but is certainly worth exploring later to see if it picks up pace. As such a survivor, it is well-worth checking out while in Pisek and more charming than some of the modernised places down the road such as Na Sadech.
