Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ High quality Czech and Slovak lagers and ales from smaller brewers, across 13 taps. |
Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ An inherited interior in a typical Czechoslovak half-step basement, traditional beams, chunky tables and historic signage from the pre-war era. |
Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Not quite as it was when the pub was Richtar Jakub’s, but nevertheless friendly, neighbourly and pleasant even at quieter times, with a nice garden through the back of the building. Visit later in the evening, particularly in winter months for a cosy experience. |
Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Meals, snacks, outdoor seating, occasional events |
Value For Money | ❤️❤️ On the more expensive end of normal given the location, but nothing to scare any Western wallets. |
Description | Formerly Richtar Jakub, this venue has been taken over by a new operation called Opapa, a charmingly dorky play on the also excellent nearby business Omama, two pubs that have been nearby each other for years. A superb example of a drinks focused Hospoda. Everything from the half-slung basement with windows onto street level, the gleaming taps and the simple communal tables with pre-war charm are on show here. Very popular with locals with a beer garden that gets rammed in warmer months. Omama and Opapa make a brilliant evening out all by themselves in a quiet leafy neighbourhood on the periphery of the city centre. |
