| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pilsner Urquell and Prazdroj’s Volba Sladku are the beer options – never a disaster but not cutting edge, with a good wine selection and competent back bar. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A very strong suit. This truly homely pub gives a hint of its style from the leafy, bespoke appearance of its exterior on a quiet side road. Inside, wood and warm hues are added to with a surprisingly non-minimalist, homely decor of ornaments, and oil paintings. A taproom with partition to a social lounge space to the rear. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Fabulous to be among the throng of people socialising. There’s a lot of love for the place which is evident as you’re part of it. Service is fair, and the place is popular. Don’t be abashed, ask for space if there’s part of a table free. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, TV, outdoor seating |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Unremarkable, fair. |
| Description | Zlin’s best pub, what it lacks in the latest beers from small independent brewers it compensates for in virtually every other department. A beautifully curated homely feeling pub which has that genius loci that so many try and fail to attain. Being among the throng, even for a night, is to have been part of that magic. Chunky wooden tables, large dressers, warm hues to the paintwork. Oil paintings and ornaments surround you, adding to the experience, making it feel more distinctive and giving the place its identity. The fact the regular beer is Pilsner Urquell is hardly a disaster, and the rotating Volba Sladku offer is a bonus. Look out for Moravian wines and a competent back bar of Czech liqueurs. An essential stop off if visiting the city, and a genteel counterbalance to the modern look of the city itself. (Added November 2023) |
