Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
Basic Tuborg and Carlsberg products with Danish liqueur and back bar.

Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Green frontage and a 1950s style interior of wood fittings. One room with bar straight ahead, and booths in an L-shape around it. A very well designed interior means that nearly all the seats contain some pleasing angle or aspect. It is an unapologetic boozer for simple drinking and hanging out. Its windows facing out onto the busy street, modern life passing by seem to almost cocking a snook at contemporary developments.

Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Calm local life during the afternoons, mainly older folk, but this is one place that can be relied upon to up the tempo later on, a mixture of old and young adding vibrancy to a tradition.

Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Newspapers, snacks, talk of a smørrebrød/sandwich platter early on that is “on til’ it’s gone”.

Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
Inexpensive but not among the truly lowest price options.

Description:
Occupying low-key, yet assured cult status, Funchs has long been an afternoon hangout for older folk as well as the last place at night people go for a late beer before home. This duality creates a fun atmosphere as two worlds overlap for a few hours, then depart. An old-fashioned bodega with an attractive brown/green patina of wood fittings and upholstery, a sense of institution to it that is clear from the figures you’ll see on entering. Online reviews may seem mixed rather than universally complimentary but that is due to the smoking, hardly unusual here, and the love/hate nature of such places. If you enjoy an old pub and want to experience Danish culture, this is a prime central example of where to do it. One of the few venues this side of the Dronning bridge to retain entirely fair prices for its wares too.
