Description

Magnificent Edwardian exterior tucked away in a string of residential streets, the cracked paint on the awning gives a hint of the wear and tear inside. A lived-in ale house with cast of regulars in the main room. Not unfriendly but a little cliquey and definitely using the whole room as their social space, while the back room goes unattended. The brewing operation gives the place an extra edge, with traditional ales available fresh on cask for a lower price (it’s also CASH ONLY) than normal. With a pool table and jukebox, there are some amenities to enjoy, and we are sure in the evening the atmosphere will bubble up a little bit. This will be a love or hate it spot for many, but those who enjoy a throwback neighbourhood boozer that has been weathered but ultimately unspoilt should visit here.
