Quality of Drinks
Home brew cask conditioned gravity pulled ales from a traditional range of English styles, with some US influences.
Traditional, 2-room pub. Leather upholstered bench seats and corner bar with hatch through to the back room. Saloon bar feel.
Dusty and calm during the day with a cast of regulars nattering in the main bar area, that is definitely ‘their space’ and decent backroom with fireplace.
Pool table, jukebox, limited outdoor seating, snacks, fireplace, own brew beers.
Value For Money
Very good for the area.
Magnificent Edwardian exterior tucked away in a string of residential streets, the cracked paint on the awning gives a hint of the wear and tear inside. A lived-in ale house with cast of regulars in the main room. Not unfriendly but a little cliquey and definitely using the whole room as their social space, while the back room goes unattended. The brewing operation gives the place an extra edge, with traditional ales available fresh on cask for a lower price (it’s also CASH ONLY) than normal. With a pool table and jukebox, there are some amenities to enjoy, and we are sure in the evening the atmosphere will bubble up a little bit. This will be a love or hate it spot for many, but those who enjoy a throwback neighbourhood boozer that has been weathered but ultimately unspoilt should visit here.
