Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 120+ wines available from samplers |
Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️ Historic premises of an old city brewery, with a terrace overlooking grand vistas of the wine valleys and river, as well as the historic buildings of Znojmo. The interior is plain to neutral, a large space set up for the sampler machines and high tables. |
Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️ Whitewashed interior doesn’t bring out the history of the site, sadly, but the terrace is magnificent and ably compensates. |
Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, shop, outdoor seating |
Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Fair value for money, in fact significantly cheaper than you’ll pay only a few miles away in Austria. |
Description | Normally our guide focuses on the experience rather than purely epicureanism, but here is a venue where both go hand in hand. Situated within the old city brewery’s complex, Enoteka’s unique selling point is 120+ wines available to try by the glass from a sampler. Collect a swipe card, put however much money you’re willing to part with, then go exploring the vault of wines. This is very fun. You can try anything from a dribble to half a small glass, and this is a great primer for exploring the regions wine – mainly dry to semi-sweet, with a number of grape varieties and styles which will be unfamiliar to Western eyes. Their terrace, overlooking the Thaya valley and Znojmo’s iconic central church is a superb setting on spring days or balmy late summer evenings. Don’t overlook this place. (Added April 2024) |
