Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
Typical Carlsberg/Tuborg beer selection with Danish liqueurs.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Western saloon bar exterior leads to a slightly different interior – bunker like with pool rooms and a main bar. Dark wood, retro kitsch on the walls relating to farming and fishing, lamplit.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The place oozes character, and even if you don’t enjoy the smoke that is difficult to deny. The mixed crowd in the early evening assists with this, making it not a scary old man pub, or a sterile bar with everyone on their phones, but a casual, genuinely social environment.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Snacks, pool, cards, smoking permitted.
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
One of the more fairly priced venues close to the city centre.
Description:
On the face of it, a Western saloon type pub doesn’t exactly scream ‘come and visit me’, but you’ll notice this is one of the higher rated brown pubs in the city – for good reason, as we discovered.
Set in an area without many neighbouring pubs, this appears to be to its benefit as there is a mixed clientele of old and young, overseen by the kindly bar manager Lene. The interior is dark, smoke filled but warm and welcoming too, a bunker that isn’t just for old farts to chain smoke and chug back bottles, but for youngsters to play games and socialise too – a true pub, in effect.
Prices are fair here given it’s only a hop step and jump from the city centre. Happy days. There’s no doubt it would be on the regular rounds if we lived in Copenhagen.
