| Description | Code Bar has made some of the tastemakers and listmakers guides in the past and now it joins ours. As with many cocktail bars it takes its inspiration from Manhattan speakeasies, from the bell for entry to the informal, small narrow bar area decorated with bank notes and top hats, with the cocktail making a kind of performance happening in front of you. Arrive early for any chance whatsoever of obtaining a seat on that level, or you’ll be sent downstairs to what is sadly a bit of an overflow area. The cocktail options are slimline but distinctive, and reach a high standard if not quite the prices it thinks are merited. For the bar buzz and sense of fun, this is a popular place that’s well worth a look. (Added January 2024) |
