| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A strong range of cask ales with some decent keg options too, no getting away from the fact these are beer specialists. |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️ In amongst glass towers this small row of houses survives. Directly alongside The Vine is the City Arms with green and gold frontage. This scheme continues inside with a standing/leaning bar area which drops down to a small lounge at the back. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ One of the remaining boozers of its kind in the centre, the place is popular with a range of people – albeit predominantly male. Certainly a broad range of class and ages to be found. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Simple pub food, snacks, darts, dominoes and board games |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️ Fair for the area. |
| Description | Surrounded by gleaming corporate glass blocks, this row of old houses slap bang in the centre of Manchester is a survivor. Between 2 other pubs, The Waterhouse and The Vine, City Arms offers a throwback ale house experience with standing/leaning room at the bar and a lounge dropping down to the back. Male-dominated but not hostile or unfriendly. A strong range of ales brings similarly wide range of age and class, which improves the atmosphere markedly. While the venue is on the dog-eared side of lived-in, the social scene is very strong and its precarious position elevates the need to keep it going. An option to keep up your sleeve as it also serves to tie together pub or bar crawls across the city with its handy location. |
