| Description | Characterful hangout, cellar ceilings painted with medieval characters, enhanced in recent years by more lighting and decor which really emphasises the places age and the space itself. The beer offerings have improved, unfortunately at the expense of the prices, but that doesn’t deter a broad crowd forming at this place these days which seems to go from strength to strength with each visit. The setting makes this a superbly atmospheric pub whether quiet or busy, but if you find it at its peak, there are few places in the country to match it.
