Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
An utterly superb selection. Several cask ales pulled and kept immaculately, a true rarity for Denmark, along with independently brewed Danish and other European beers, all of which are high quality. A very decent whisky selection to compliment that.

Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Small and intimate, enter a room which is more of a knajpa – small with bench seating to the front and a bar up some steps, which has been decorated with beer ephemera and heritage without being suckered into the usual theme bar tacky tropes.

Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
An intimate environment where cross-table conversation comes easy, as does chat at the bar. Denmark is not a problem as a foreigner but you will not find your nationality an issue here either, with a continental and cosmopolitan friendliness assured.

Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Snacks, occasional events

Value For Money:
❤️❤️
High quality beer in central Copenhagen – it is in line with the competition, but that still means expense.

Description:
An incredible bar that will make you rethink the role and possibilities of the ‘theme pub’ in city centres. Normally the prospect of a British pub abroad would be a signal to steer clear, or at least leave the locals to try and enjoy such a tacky old thing.

Charlie’s rips up the corporate template, offering both high quality independent brewed beer – including several cask lines which are immaculate – with an intimate, social, pubby environment that comfortably clears the low bar set by the average theme pub, while setting the marker very high in general.

Charlie’s was a precursor to the craft scene, but has survived and thrived intact, without making needless concessions to its identity.

In all of Copenhagen there are very few bars that can compete either with its drinks offerings, or the venue as a whole.

An absolute must-visit.
