Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A broad selection of drinks with tapped beer the predictable shortcomings, however there are plenty of decent options overall. The Oliveta, house vermouth is a historic tradition, while Absinth is also served.
Style/
Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Founded in 1860 with fittings dating back to the Belle-Epoque, elegant curved wood carvings on the fixtures and fittings. The bar area remains very well preserved, while the loungier backroom is slightly less impressive, victim of a 1970s renovation.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The interior ensures a vitality and ambience even while quiet (which isn’t often). This is a bar which opens in the early evening until the late hours, so spending time here you can feel the atmosphere evolving around you.
Amenities/
Events
❤️❤️❤️
Tapas, Snacks, books, games.
Value For Money❤️❤️
City centre prices.
DescriptionAmong the surviving clutch of historic city centre bars, Casa Almirall has also preserved its 19th century Modernisme facade and interior.

Situated on a corner, enter to find a wonderful time capsule of a bar with elegant curved wood, marble table tops and muted lighting.

Opened circa 1860, not much has changed inside except a 1970s refit of the rear room. Famous for the Oliveta vermouth and offering Absinth, typical of such places like this and Marsella in the Raval, you can momentarily slip off the space time continuum and enjoy a drink in the woozy surroundings in this bohemian, if discovered destination.

One can only hope it can survive another 150+ years. (Added May 2024)
