Venue Type: Terrace Bar / Beer Specialists
EBG Rating: 7.5/10
Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A fridge stocked full of many Balkans craft beers, honestly, a nice surprise.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
A terrace faces the bay, while inside an exposed brick interior with curved vault and fairly conventional bar space makes this bar more than a terrace eatery. Decorations are a little generic going through the motions of 20th century music.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️
Inoffensive when quiet, but needs some custom to drum up a sufficient atmosphere.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, outdoor seating, takeaway
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
Given the touristy location, it’s OK.
Description:
A combination of tourism and the typical coastal culture in the Balkans means finding good pubs can be very difficult. This remains the case in Piran where the majority of venues are eateries with a terrace. 6 months a year this does the trick, with most happy to sit out and enjoy the view. Piran is one of the most beautiful towns in the world, after all, so despite being firm ‘inside’ pub-goers, we can’t blame people.
However, there comes a time where everyone seeks the warmth of the inside and somewhere cosy, ideally somewhere that doesn’t look like it was created on a computer either.
Cafinho was quiet on our visit but after some umming and aahing I settled on an inclusion.
An exposed brick interior with curved vault and fairly conventional bar space makes this bar more than a terrace eatery.
Arguably as importantly, it also offers a fridge stocked full of many Balkans craft beers, honestly, a nice surprise.
The decoration is a little generic but honestly given the standards locally, not that offensive in all honestly, and is compensated for by the raw materials of the building and good lighting.
It’s not like you’ll be going to many other bars in Piran, but nice to know somewhere that’s relatively tasteful that has loads of good beers, right?
