Quality of Drinks
❤️❤️❤️
Only the most basic beers, but there is a competent back bar for wines, vermouth, cocktails and the local Agua de Valencia which adheres to the original recipe.

Décor
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful pharmacy fittings in a small converted bar, carved wood, converted cabinets and a showpiece ceiling intricate enough to belong to the Silk Exchange nearby. Plenty of patio seating to compensate for the compact space inside.
Atmosphere/
Character
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Characterful by virtue of the craft of the interior, but also through the sense of institution, the permanence and fixture of the place. Long opening hours accentuate this further, as it feels like this is umbilically connected to Valencia’s identity.

Snacks, outdoor seating
Value For Money❤️❤️
City centre prices, although not extortionate.
DescriptionAmong central Valencia’s most famous bars, the site of a beautiful 19th century former pharmacy, with the cabinet fittings and floor still intact. The bar has been operating since the mid-90s and its compact size means there is a natural patio extension as its identity spills out onto the street. A firm feeling of institution to the service tells of its cultural significance. The small showpiece bar has only two tables for seating, but a backroom is itself elegant and has a certain atmosphere and allure even when quiet. Versatile, you can find people enjoying their morning coffee, to cocktail drinkers in the typically blurred lines that not so much demarcate as embody Spanish bar culture. (Added July 2024)
