Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️
Basic wares – Tuborg/Carlsberg variants with the classic Danish back bar of brown bitter schnapps and corporate spirits selection.
Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Facing the water, a step up off the street. Green old-fashioned frontage which doesn’t give much away about the interior. Inside a 1 room pub, low-lit with moody browns and greens, retro beer signage and the occasional plume of cigarette smoke. Bar directly opposite the entrance and regulars table to the left – as this is almost always occupied you won’t need to worry about committing the faux pas of sitting there.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
With a husband-and-wife team, and friendly regulars there is a more personal feel. There is a sense of calm and cosiness in the afternoon, but don’t be fooled this is only a middle aged hangout. Like many of these places it can spark to life in the evenings. Both a throwback experience and a vibrant nightspot in one.
Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Bar games, smoking permitted, outdoor seating in summer, snacks
Value For Money:
❤️❤️❤️
A fairly priced bar with budget options, very welcome so close to the centre.
Description:
With a husband-and-wife team, and friendly regulars there is a more personal feel on afternoons here than some of the other bodegas around Copenhagen. This is not to say the others are unfriendly, only that this adds a certain something. A brown pub/brunt vaertshus facing the Slydhavnen which reaches out into the sea, this is a vividly Danish experience. With smoking permitted and a homely interior, you can be assured of a throwback experience.
The pub itself is well curated with the typical retro beer signage, low-lit lamps and booths. There is a sense of calm and cosiness in the afternoon, but don’t be fooled this is only a middle aged hangout. Like many of these places it can spark to life in the evenings – some will be surprised to see it stays open until 2am most nights – this is not even unusual for the city.
As well as all the above, the basic wares of the bar are fairly priced meaning this is one Danish pub that isn’t going to be plundering your wallet.
