| Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ A strong selection of wines with typical Spanish tapas bar alternatives (vermouth, sherries, etc) |
| Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️ The 1970s call with its ochre tiling and bar top, pastel shades alongside a simply furnished space. Wooden tables along the bar with a small rear room. |
| Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ An authentic honest operation, this is where to go to separate yourself from corporate trappings and globalised sameyness. Neighbourhood friends and family for the most part, but welcoming enough that no heads will turn, it must be said that is not a huge risk in Spanish bars anyway which tend to be welcoming, but it is notable in an obscure place how that was not a factor at all. |
| Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Food, snacks, takeaway, newspapers |
| Value For Money | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ In an expensive city this is one of the truly fairly priced and honest operations where you can eat and drink well for an affordable price. |
| Description | A traditional family-run winery that’s stuck in the 1970s so vehemently it has swung from out of fashion to so out of time it’s a fashionable and quite charming curio. A Bodega in name and in deed, this is somewhere you can purchase wine for home consumption, and they do takeaways for fans of their food too. Cold plates of tapas and all manner of nuts, beans, etc are on offer to enjoy alongside the many wines on offer in the bar. A neighbourhood crowd of families and friends keep the show on the road, but there is a feeling that outside of the family rituals it doesn’t see as much young custom as it could, compared to the likes of El Labrador down the road. That is a damn shame, but at least we’re here to sing its praises. Oh, and while we’re at it, the place is superbly good value. (Added July 2024) |
