Choice/ Quality of Drinks | ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Typical Irish pub offerings but don’t think that’s all that’s available. For a small cramped bar there is a very decent beer offer complimented by a wide selection of whiskies. |
Style/ Décor | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ On the exterior, a so far so familiar, with Irish signage, but enter to find a remarkably small little bathtub of a pub covered from wall to ceiling in collections from the owner’s visits to Ireland. The way it has been created is really something that goes beyond the typical Irish ex-pat concept. |
Atmosphere/ Character | ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Not only characterful in appearance but buzzy, lively, relevant feeling, a huddle created due to its tiny size, a sense that a new conversation (or even romance?) may be only a tap of the shoulder away. |
Amenities/ Events | ❤️❤️❤️ Snacks, limited outdoor seating |
Value For Money | ❤️❤️ Unsurprisingly, you’ll encounter city centre prices, but just about acceptable given location and the special nature of the venue. |
Description | Created in 1991, this ‘Irish Pub’ surpasses the confines and expectations typical of such a theme. Firstly and most obviously, the place is tiny. On entrance you’ll find a crowded bar area with barely a snug at the back and a tiny side niche. Not the ex-pat bar you’d expect! The owner has decorated the place with a hoard of treasure from his collections which span decades of visits to Ireland itself. Every inch of wall space is used – no joke. The crowd is excitable, international and there’s a natural buzz and energy as people are thrown together in this little bathtub of a pub. Hugely distinctive – regardless of any misgivings about the theme, these will be overcome. Be aware though that this is a Marmite pub – love or hate. If you don’t like crowded space then look elsewhere. (Added May 2023) |
