Forst’s core range, 6 taps on offer which are kept and served to a very high standard. Typical pub restaurant range of alternatives which aren’t the focus.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
Traditional in style, modern in fittings. A spacious beer hall with long bar and raised/lowered seating areas with chunky tables in a long space.
Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Typical pub restaurant atmosphere with dining naturally taking a major role, but also space and ease to drink outside of the busier dining hours. Calm and upright, with servers on patrol.

❤️❤️❤️
Reasonable overall.
Description:
Constructed in 1956, Birreria Forst is a relative rarity of a German style Gaststätte in Italy that isn’t a Bavarian theme pub or indeed a German theme pub, but something all of itself. Northern Italy of course takes influence from its Germanic neighbours and Forst is among the more traditional breweries to take its cues from there.
You’ll find the core range on tap here, which is generally passable, however its kellerbier served in a glazed mug was a standout.
There is a beer hall style setup with plenty of staff and spacious interior, plenty of solid table. It’s traditionally styled but clean and modern fittings.
Despite lukewarm reviews by the general public we found service good and prompt, beer as fresh as you could possibly ask, and the food offerings, while hardly fine dining definitely hit the mark.
Outside of dining hours there appears to be the option to arrive for a drink and hang out, which also felt redolent of a Czech pub.
It is an important, and convenient venue for Trieste.
