Quality of Drinks
Craft beer styles on tap and bottles covering most bases of that ouvre well, almost pointed focus away from what is generally available elsewhere. Sadly despite the Pilsner Urquell side pour tap and sign outside, availability comes and goes.
Tiled floor and iconic bulldog mural on the side of the building make this memorable. A two storey interior which is a little bit obstructed.
The interior is a little obstructed to really be considered social or cosy, reinforced by high chairs which does not work with the Estaminet idea of food and beer. Nevertheless, with decent décor and human life, something just about wins out amongst that.
Food, snacks, outdoor seating, games
Value For Money❤️❤️
More expensive as befits the craft beer operation.
DescriptionBillie’s is certainly a distinctive venue and one to bookmark for Antwerp, It’s difficult to muster quite the same level of excitement as other reviews. If you prize craft beer above all else, you will want to visit here, with its tap options more relevant and contemporary, as well as more varied. However, some of the original concept has fallen by the wayside. A side pour Pilsner Urquell tap often goes unused along with a few other gimmicks. In its stead, you will be presented with the familiar craft focus on pales, stouts and sours, which makes a change from some of the traditional Antwerp bars – but, let’s face it, they aren’t exactly bad! A large dog mural outside is iconic as is the tiled floor, yet another venue to preserver that well. In a small two-storey bar atmosphere is huddled but without the exact social element you’re looking for, making this a missed opportunity for something great rather than a great bar itself. Constant kitchen smell also interferes with the idea of it as a drinking hole, however it is positioned as an Estaminet and needs to be treated as such, despite the high chairs. (Added July 2022)
