Year of Inscription: 2025

Venue Type: Café Bar / Historic / Cocktail Bar

Choice/Quality of Drinks:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cocktails are produced and served with willingness and flair, there is even a craft beer tap from an unusual source (Rye River in Ireland), and the more ordinary Erdinger. There is a large back-bar and some bespoke creations can be made.

Style/Décor:
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Truly stunning with its original Art Nouveau bar, mirrors reflecting the wall of spirits and liqueues, and wood panels designed by Debelli who specialist in designing the cabins of passenger ships. In the centre of the room a chandelier hangs from the ceiling in the middle of a diamond wood cut framing, the cherry on the cake of its grandeur.

Atmosphere/Character:
❤️❤️❤️❤️
As with all café bars, the rhythms of the day dictate the atmosphere, with the coffee-and-cakes period diffusing into the more bar-like evening atmosphere. However, the small size and surroundings can quickly change that feel depending on the audience and their choices.

Amenities/Events:
❤️❤️❤️
Food, snacks, limited outdoor seating, shop.

Value For Money:
❤️❤️
No doubt on the higher end for the city. Largely justified, especially factoring in the complimentary snacks, but would benefit from some additional offers or loss-leaders to make it more of a democratic venue.

Description:
Dating from 1919, Caffè Torinese belongs to a rare group of unspoilt, preserved café bars that have survived a succession of eras intact, without losing their fittings, purpose or relevance.

It’s a small venue but the interior is truly stunning with its original Art Nouveau bar, mirrors reflecting the wall of spirits and liqueues, and wood panels designed by Debelli who specialist in designing the cabins of passenger ships. In the centre of the room a chandelier hangs from the ceiling in the middle of a diamond wood cut framing, the cherry on the cake of its grandeur.

Today, a versatile operation straddles the typical daytime coffee and cake needs without losing its essence as a bar, which stays open until 2am every day bar its early evening Sunday closing.

Cocktails are produced and served with willingness and flair, there is even a craft beer tap from an unusual source (Rye River in Ireland). These are always served with a small selection of nuts and crisps which to an extent justify the higher prices.

Being so small and so central, its beauty feels almost vulnerable, as though the slightest mishap could destroy it, which only makes it the more remarkable to visit.

A cultural reference point for the city, among its historic institutions and a must visit. (Added January 2026)
