Description:
One of Latvia’s most atmospheric bars regardless of the time of year. The repurposed industrial complexes around the city come into their own in the summer months, but Latvia’s winter bites hard, and somewhere with a distinctive, non-generic cosy interior atmosphere is oddly difficult to find in this city. The entrance to Aleponija is not street facing and this adds a few seconds of intrigue as you approach from around the side of a building.

You’ll find a good range of Latvian craft beers in the fridge which gives this place the edge over say, Eszeweria in Kraków still stuck in the Zywiec rut.

The atmosphere broods, brooding is the ideal medium for the bar, but it can honest all sorts of casual encounters from romantic quiet evenings, group fun and games, poetry readings and other cultural events. A fat cat named Bruto is its mascot as well, which is all to the good.
