Description:
An Abacería is a grocery store, and many of these evolved into places where drinking and eating took place.

It does feel like virtually anywhere in Spain is liable to do this. I don’t receive dental care in Spain but it wouldn’t surprise me if you walked in a surgery to find a beer tap and wine on the shelves.

This place on a small square of the same name has seen a few incarnations in modern history but reopened at a fully fledged bar (with some grocery story accoutrements) in 2013.

A traditional interior with exposed brick and stone that has received decoration that flits between tasteful clutter and shabby chic, without leaning into Instagram type generica.

Known for a good range of tapas, cuttlefish meatballs and ajo campero (country style garlic) are frequently cited as worth trying.

Based in the cities original Flamenco district, there are such venues nearby if you care to try, but this is more about the richness of the tavern experience in a neighbourly venue.
